What is the minimum investment?

The minimum initial investment is $5,000 for a regular account and $2,000 for an IRA.

How can I redeem money from my account?

There are two ways to redeem money from your account:

  • Telephone Redemption
    If you have telephone redemption set up on your account, call 800-847-0200 to redeem shares. To set up telephone redemption, complete the Telephone Redemption Form.
  • Written Redemption Request
    Mail a letter including redemption instructions, account number, phone number, and signature to:

Is the sales charge taken out of my account or do I need to write a separate check?

No separate check is needed. For A Shares, the sales charge is factored into the price per share. For C Shares, a sales charge is taken out of the account only if the funds are liquidated within the first 12 months.

Can I exchange between funds without incurring an additional sales charge?

Within the same class of shares (i.e. A Shares to A Shares) you may exchange at any time without an additional sales charge. For more details, see the prospectus.

What is a Signature Guarantee and when is one necessary?

A "Signature Guarantee" is not a Notary. It is a stamp that can be obtained from a commercial bank or FINRA registered brokerage firm. It is necessary to obtain a Signature Guarantee for the following:

  • Redemptions above $25,000 on accounts without telephone redemption privileges
  • Any change of ownership; adding or removing shareowners from the registration or changing ownership for any amount of shares
  • Transferring money to any destination other than the address of record or bank instructions on record
  • Adding telephone redemption after the account has been established

Will you accept faxed letters of instruction if they are signature guaranteed?

Yes, as long as an original is also mailed to:

Can I change my address over the phone?

To change your address you can complete the Change of Address Form or mail a letter of instruction signed by all of the shareowners on the account. Addresses can not be changed over the phone.

Do you have a set dividend?

None of the Thornburg Funds have a set dividend.

Can I reinvest my dividends at NAV without a sales charge?

Yes, dividends are reinvested at NAV (without a sales charge).

What is the NAV?

The NAV is the value of a share, and is computed for each class by adding the value of investments, cash and other assets for the class, subtracting liabilties, and then dividing by the number of shares outstanding.

Can I have money wired directly to my bank account?

Yes. To have money wired directly to your account, you must provide us with a voided check and a letter of instruction with a signature guarantee.

When I try to print pages from the Thornburg web site, the right side gets cut off. What is a possible solution?

Our web site is designed to fill a screen space of 740 pixels in width. This size is larger than the default printable area for most printers. To fit the entire screen on a printed page:

Internet Explorer v6.0 -

  • Go to "Page Setup" under "File" on your browser top menu bar.
  • Set your left and right margins to .25.
  • Be sure your paper orientation is set to "Portrait" and click "OK."
  • Proceed to print the page.

AOL users -

  • Go to "Page Setup" under "File" on your browser top menu bar.
  • Set the page size to 75%.
  • Be sure your paper orientation is set to "Portrait" and click "OK."
  • Proceed to print the page.
